it's outdoor vs. indoor, so it's hard to judge. but i liked innovative percussion better since the indoor mallets were a lot lighter than the outdoor; easier 16ths, rolls, basically everything, haha

My first marching performance was for my town's Fourth of July parade. I play Bass 2. I was in the middle of the marching block, and in the middle of the road there was a small pothole. Not being able to see anything around or beneath my drum (I'm short -_-), I felt m foot go into the hole. Everything went down from there. The band parents all came rushing over because they thought I passed out from the heat.
Initiation=Complete.

That is always the worst!! I hate how you can never see anything. Luckily, for the last couple of years, they've made sure that we march in front of the horses.

Oh, god...i have a mini heart attack every time the road gets uneven in parades. Also, traffic cones are always annoying. Worst fall i've ever taken was running into a speaker during break at a rehearsal, haha

Hahahahha that's terrible! I'm so sorry! But yeah. Uneven roads are the worst! And traffic cones. People need to use forethought when they place those.

Hard work. Build up those shoulder muscles. Be prepared for long days. Bring water. But overall, you're gonna have a great time

I don't know how your band works, but our drum line only wears the drums if we are actually practicing marching and playing at the same time. If we are just practicing the music then we put our drums on stands.
