How do you get a staticy sound out of your tone? (By the way I have braces on but am about to get them off. Can that affect my tone?)

My band teacher talked about this right before break. He said, "Imagine a cup of air. If you have a cup, you can only put so much air in it. When you have that sound, you are trying to put too much air in the cup, and the cup is overflowing. You need to use just enough air to fill that cup." Hopefully that helps.

on long tones, playing loud can help you improve your tone. all you have to do is direct your air downward. you'll notice a huge change immediately hope this helps!!

The only problem with what you are saying is that flutes really aren't meant to be "loud," they are meant to be more...majestic if that makes sense.
