I love music written for band, and I could go on forever about my favorites but I'll spare everyone that. Anyway some of my favorite pieces are Russian Christmas Music by Alfred Reed, Lincolnshire Posy by Percy Grainger, First Suite in E Flat by Gustav Holst, Give Us This Day by David Maslanka, Variations on a Korean Folk Song by John Barnes Chance, and Equus by Eric Whitacre. Plus a bunch more. So what are your favorites?

Ammerland -- Jacob de Haan
You know how many other pieces I've played in which the tenor sax gets the melody? Zilch.

I love Equus from Eric Whitacre, but the best and the funnest piece I've ever played was Incantation and Dance by John Barnes Chance. www.youtube.com/watch?v=0VR_I4mwEF8 - Equus (performed by my school) www.youtube.com/watch?v=uw2s3Y6NZwg - Incantation and Dance (performed by Tokyo Kosei Wind Orchestra) The Equus video was performed by my school AKA Langham Creek. I'm currently a freshmen. Oh yes, I've played Incantation and Dance in middle school, and received a one from UIL. Yeah, my middle school band is pretty good. ^-^

I looove anything Frank Ticheli writes. Sanctuary is a really good one, and Blue Shades is like the coolest song ever! Everyone should hear Blue Shades: It has a really great clarinet solo too so...

Robert W. Smith does write good stuff. My band has played Into the Storm and Rising Dragons, both of which are wonderful pieces. Plus the percussion parts were fun.
